Last Night

Last night
I sat around a table full of shining souls
Like calls to like and their light brought forth mine
Not a face without a smile in this circle
the air thick with delicious smoke
Shake my hand, give me a hug fool
The music we waited for starts playing
and we all rise up
As if by force
Not so much against our will.
The vibration felt in my core
it forced motion out of me
Trumpet, sax, drums, bass...
I knew that was exactly where I was supposed to be
All smiles, all night
I thought I forgot how to dance
But I found my legs
they remembered what they were supposed to do
Some good things never change
